3. Bài mẫu – IELTS Sample Band 8.0+ cho đề thi IELTS Writing Task 1 ngày 28/07/2023

The illustrations depict transformations undergone by a museum and its nearby area in 1990 and 2010. Overall, a comparison between two maps shows that the layout of the museum witnessed insignificant changes, except for the expansion of the car park and the provision of amenities to enhance its access and customer service.

Regarding the map in 1990, from the main road, there existed a path bisecting two parts of the museum, towards the left of which laid a building complex. Passing the main entrance, visitors could enter four different areas, including a store room to the right, three separate exhibition rooms, a small shop to the left and a cottage near the main road. Meanwhile, the eastern part of the museum consisted of a large space divided into a car park and a garden.

Turning to the building’s structure in 2010, while the store room remained unaltered, one exhibition room was demolished to make room for the enlargement of the shop. Another noticeable modification was the addition of a new cafe located in the place previously dedicated to the cottage. Additionally, towards the right side of the path, the parking space was further expanded, leading to the displacement of the former garden.

The maps illustrate how a museum and its surrounding had been innovated between 1990 and 2010. Overall, the museum underwent significant changes including the reconstruction of the main building and the introduction of new amenities and services, at the expense of green spaces and a traditional feature, making it become more visitor friendly.

Regarding outdoor areas, the museum could be accessed from the main road to the north, with a pathway bisecting the area into the main building on the left and a parking area on the right, and  the garden in the back. This layout remained unchanged until 2010, with the only alteration being the removal of the previous garden for the extension of the car park to the north-east.

Regarding a main building, visitors entering the museum by the front entrance facing the car park could find two main areas: a display space in the top, and a cottage zone in the bottom corner. In 2010, while the wall separating the two exhibition rooms was demolished, a store room remained the same location at the upper left corner. Other changes involved the removal of the exhibition room in the center to give space for the extended shop in 2010 as well as the addition of a new Café in the location of the former cottage.
