Indisputably, every enterprise is comprised of ordinary workers and managerial ones namely CEOs and executives. In large-scale corporations, it is assumed by many that such high-ranking employees should be paid more generously than those of lower levels, whereas others deem this as unjust. The following essay elaborates on both viewpoints before stating my perspective on this contentious matter.
On the one hand, it is justifiable to claim that the discrepancy in salary between directors and staff is unacceptable due to their equal contribution to the success of the organization compared to employers’. Indeed, all staffs are assigned with different tasks in a project and every employee is supposed to work industriously to ensure its success. Therefore, their dedication to the company, especially when handling several laborious tasks and holding responsibility for their allocated part, should gain recognition. Take such web-based shopping forums as Amazon as an example. Since warehouse workers are entailed to directly control and process orders, which is indispensable in the company’s operation, they deserve equal salary just as their directors.
On the other hand, the opinion that top executives should have a more generous compensation is also reasonable. It stands to reason that employers have to endure greater pressure owing to their decision-making power, which can decide the success of the entire project or even the fate of the company. Due to the scarce abilities of those qualifying for such positions, the associated weighty responsibility, and the immense pressure born, they deserve a higher salary as a form of compensation. For instance, the CEO of Google, Larry Page, whose annual compensation and bonus is estimated to be over millions of dollars. However, there is no complaint among the staff since his leadership and significant dedication for the growth of this global corporation can completely justify his rewards.
In conclusion, although the staff’s infatigable effort to dedicate to the company’s develop is apparently true, it should not be the justification for paying for the staff and manager equally. Hence, regarding the executive-level employee’s responsibility and the need for encouraging ordinary employees, sizeable corporations should maintain their salary structure.
