It is a disturbing but undeniable fact that in the current era of materialism, renowned figures are more widely known for their splendor and tangible possessions rather than their social accomplishments. On such a ground, some people opine that this growing trend will exert detrimental impacts on young generations. From a personal perspective, I emphatically concur with this viewpoint for two main reasons.

One point is that considering the rapidly soaring number of individuals effortlessly becoming famous, they can distort the actual meaning of success. To elucidate, with the surging popularity of such social media platforms as Youtube, TikTok or Instagram, people endowed with attractive countenance or a mild sense of humor can become KOLs or influencers, acquiring an immense source of income from advertising without much effort. Such instances, in turn, can propel adolescents to be under a misapprehension that the path to success is straightforward. As a consequence, not only can these youngsters be distracted from studying but they also can indulge in unscrupulous deeds and competitions to become well-knowed.

Another justification for my approval is that celebrities these days are unduely admired owing to their promotion of materialism. Indeed, their extravagance may drive the young to falsely judge others based on their wealth and reputation. This can be vividly illustrated by the case of Kim Kardashian, an American socialite who attracted enormous public attention via her reality series portraying her luxurious life. Being extensively esteemed among teenagers simply by boasting their ample property, personalities like her can lure naive young people into evaluating other individuals solely through these criteria, thus eventually promoting their adoption of a money-oriented lifestyle.

In conclusion, the splendor of celebrities’ life nowadays is affecting the youth in a detrimental manner. Therefore, I am convinced that young individuals should carefully select the examples of public figures with positive social influence to follow for the sake of their own promising future and personal development.
