The chart below gives information about the age of women in Australia when they gave birth to their first child in 1968, 1988 and 2008. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Three younger age groups:
- 1968: 20-25-year-old largest, at 45% // roughly double those under 19 and 26-29
- 2008: aged under 19 and 20-25 plummeted to merely under 10% // 25-29 aged ones rise to nearly 40%, rank second
Older age groups:
- 1968: only around 7% of 30-34 aged females // exceeding other two cohorts by over 3%
- 2008: 30-34-year-olds the most common age, skyrocketing to above 40% // 35-39 and 40+ increases to just about 8% and 3% respectively

The bar chart depicts the changes in the aged-based proportion of Australian women delivering their first child between 1968 and 2008. In general, the age of first-time mothers in Australia increased over time throughout the studied period. Furthermore, despite their humble beginning in 1968, women aged 30-34 boasted the highest figure at the end of the timescale.
Regarding the three younger age brackets, the largest proportion of 20-25-year-old women gave birth to their children for the first time, at about 45%, in 1968, roughly double the percentage of those aged under 19 and 26-29. During the next four decades, however, the figures for first-time mothers aged under 19 and those aged 20-25 plummeted to the lowest and third lowest levels, at about 1% and 8% respectively in 2008, whereas that for those 25-29 ones underwent an exponential rise to nearly 40%, ranking second in the chart at the end of the period.
Concerning the older age groups, in 1968, only around 7% of 30-34 aged females had their first childbirth, exceeding the proportion of the other two cohorts by over 3%. Over the following 40 years, ages of 30-34 became the most common time for women in Australia to deliver their first child after witnessing their figure skyrocketing to above 40%. Similarly but less strikingly, despite undergoing noticeable increases, the percentage of first-time mothers aged 35-39 and 40+ stood at just about 8% and 3% respectively in 2008.
