The charts below show the proportion of people’s total spending on different commodities and services in a particular European country in 1998 and 2008.

3 hạng mục được chi tiêu nhiều nhất:

• 1998: 16% budget was allotted to electronic devices // far exceeding the spending on clothing and holiday by 4% and 8% respectively
• 2008: electronic items maintained first rank // rising marginally to 20% // closely followed by clothing, at 18% // a noticeable 3% decrease in holiday // only ranked fourth in the latter year

3 hạng mục còn lại:

• 1998: restaurant meals occupied 6% // double the proportion of newspaper, magazines and going to the cinema, at 3%
• 2008: no changes for eating out // other two categories underwent substantial plunges // only 1% of their budget to newspapers, magazines and cinema tickets

4. Bài mẫu – IELTS Sample Band 8.0+ cho đề thi IELTS Writing Task 1 ngày 14/07/2023

The bar charts track the changes in the outlay distribution of citizens in an European nation into various life aspects between 1998 and 2008. Overall, except for clothing and electronic goods, the total expenditure on the other categories either declined or remained unchanged. Furthermore, people tended to spend the most on electronic products throughout the surveyed years.

Regarding the three most widely spent aspects, 16% of the studied individuals’ budget was allotted to electronic devices in 1998, far exceeding the spending on clothing and holiday by 4% and 8% respectively. Over the following decade, electronic items maintained their first rank, with their figure rising marginally to 20%, closely followed by that of clothing, at 18%. By contrast, a noticeable 3% decrease was registered in the outlay on holiday, which only ranked fourth in the latter year.

Turning to the remaining commodities and services, in 1998, restaurant meals occupied 6% of the total expenditure, which was double the proportion of newspaper, magazines and going to the cinema, at 3%. During the next 10 years, no changes were recorded in the figure for eating out, whereas the other two categories underwent substantial plunges, in which people allocated only 1% of their budget to newspapers, magazines and cinema tickets in 2008.
