Hãy hiểu đơn giản là món thịt bò luộc với lớp nước sốt, được ăn kèm cùng khoai tây nghiền chiên và rau nghiền. Phong cách ăn uống theo kiểu cầu kỳ là chính nhưng hương vị cũng không mấy đặc sắc so với…cái giá đủ ăn 50 tô bò kho.

We tried this legendary dish at Plachutta, the most famous Viennese restaurant brand nearly synonymous with the food itself.

The dish reached its zenith in popularity at the beginning of the 19th century when the Viennese Emperor Franz Joseph craved Tafelspitz on a nearly daily basis. The affordability and nutritional values of beef and vegetables made it the most popular food at that time.

Prime and juicy cuts of boiled beef are uniquely presented in a tasty broth served in a copper pan at our table. I believe that nowhere else is the dish served in a royal style distinguishing the successful Plachutta brand from others. That is the reason why tourists and local inhabitants flock to Plachutta restaurants for an impeccable Tafelspitz.

Eating Tafelspitz here is a unique dining experience itself as there are specific steps to follow. It starts with trying the seasoned broth soup with noodles of our choice. Then we spread bone marrow onto crispy toasted bread before tucking it into the main course. When we felt ready, the waiter placed the beef cuts along with side dishes namely deep-fried smashed potatoes and cauliflower on our plates. It is customary to sprinkle the beef with some soup and enjoy it with two types of sauces: chive sauce and apple-horseradish one. This variety of side dishes gives Tafelspitz a subtle and tasty flavor that still lingered in our mouths.

To be honest, this dining experience is one of a kind to explore Viennese traditional cuisine truly. However, the food itself is overrated to some extent that we think it is not something extraordinarily delicious compared to Vietnamese food to convince us of a return.”
