SAMPLE & IDEAS

[INTRO]

It was during a volunteer trip that I took to a remote area in my province

[STORY]

[what] It was a trip held by the social work club in my High School, organized to help children at a poor primary school roughly 100 km from where we live.

[how] At the place, I was able to engage in activities with different children but I paid special attention to a little boy who, from what I later found out, had his mother passed away in an accident. The boy behaved with mannerand was respectful towards the elderly and kind to his friends. And so I was curious about his story so we took a short walk together, talking and learning more about aspects I otherwise would not have known. It was disheartening at first, but I was glad to know that he got over that, then we returned to the gathering site and had a bundle of joy, playing tag, hide-and-seek and other games with each other.

[feeling] It was such an unforgettable experience for me to have been able to bond with that kid and we fostered a deep friendship with each other

4. IELTS Speaking Part 3 Sample & Ideas: Children

SAMPLE & IDEAS

1. Do you think children should have a lot of toys?

[Lead-in] From my view, children should not be bought a lot of toys, but anything can be the toys of children

[Explain] That sounds a bit strange but let me clarify my point. I believe plastic toys are not healthy for children / low-quality plastic can poison the child by touch, leading to diseases such as cancer laterwards / young babies can choke by accidentally swallowing small-sized toys. For me, any items can be a toy such as a broom, sweeping the floor can be a great game, sticks and stones around the house can enhance a child’s creativity or a plant can teach a child to be caring

2. Where do children usually play?

[Lead-in] In major cities nowadays, children mostly play indoors as the outside is either too dangerous or too polluted

[Explain] This, I believe, mostly stems from parents who take great care of their offspring in today’s world. They try to provide their kids with modern educational toys and expect them to be super intelligent for their age. For me, just let kids be kids and go easy on them, so it’s best for a child to live in the countryside

  • take great care of their offspring: dành sự quan tâm tốt đẹp với con cái của họ

3. Do you think there are too many rules for children to follow, whether at school or home?

[Lead-in] I 100% agree with this

[Explain] Innocent as a lamb → only use advice or light warnings to educate them → allow positive personality growth → let them develop without the restriction of laws and obligations // Such an instance could lead to damages to a child’s mental health → leading to issues afterwards

  • Innocent as a lamb: ngây thơ, vô tội

4. Do you think it’s necessary for parents to make decisions for their children?

[Lead-in] I am strongly against this as it can hamper the natural development of a child

[Explain] Children need to be aware of their actions, what they do and their rewards and consequences → sometimes they know what is best for them as they are young and possess  → a playground of ideas → sometimes it’s better to just play it by ears and it will just work out

  • be aware of: hiểu biết, nhận thức

5. Do you think it is good for parents to help their children choose friends?

[Lead-in] From my perspective, children should learn to pick their own friends

[Explain] Sometimes it could be a neighbor that is a hop, skip and a jump away, sometimes it could even be a little boy with monkey business. But anything will contribute to his/her childhood memory and help the child grow along the way. Just make sure, the child does not get involved in bullying or being tricked into using drugs or such harmful substances by some “friends”

  • hop, skip and a jump away: khoảng cách gần
  • monkey business: người hành động một cách dại dột,ngốc nghếch
  • harmful substances: chất độc hại
