So within the current technological age, technology has gradually played a crucial role in our society. People seem to be unable to live without it. It is also my case. To be honest, I could not live without my smartphone now. It helps me stay connected with the current fast–changing world.

When did I have it? The smartphone was a surprising gift from my dad on my 17th birthday. I got into my first year at high school, and he gave me a new smartphone in aid of my study, as well as keeping in touch with my family. The phone was the latest IPhone version at the time – Iphone 12 Pro Max – with high camera quality, smooth touchscreen and long battery life. It has been on my bucket list for a long time and my dad materialized it for me. I was overjoyed on receiving it on my birthday.

As the case of many young people, I have the habit of being on the screen quite a lot during the day. I use my phone mainly for entertainment purposes, scrolling through social media and chatting with my friends. Apart from this, it is also of great help for me in learning new languages, as I can download some language learning apps and study on them anywhere anytime I want. It is not to mention that I also use my phone to take photos and keep all the memories that I have been through. To sum up, smartphones have been an irreplaceable part of my life.

1. What makes a technology device important in daily life?

Hmm, let me think….I think technological devices play an important role in communication nowadays. To be specific, the Internet has facilitated wireless connection, and people can easily contact or keep in touch with anyone who lives far away, regardless of geographical barriers. Such connection is crucial in all aspects of life, from working, studying to maintaining a relationship; and once this connection is broken, huge trouble will be caused to human’s life.

2. How has the importance of technology devices changed over time?

Oh gosh, I think the importance of technology has evolved significantly over time. In the past, technological devices were seen as luxury items or tools for specific purposes, like a computer for work or school. Today, they have become with smartphones, laptops, and wearable tech central to everyday life. Combined with the development of artificial intelligence, the dependency on these devices have grown, and they now play a critical role in various fields.

3. In what ways do important technology devices affect a person’s work or study?

I believe that technology can streamline productivity and improve the quality of work or study. For example, laptops and tablets make it easier for people to access resources, collaborate with others and complete tasks efficiently, with many apps integrated into these devices such as Google docs or Google excel. It is not to mention that with Internet connection, people can easily complete their tasks online, without the need for travel. In addition, technology devices has also transformed the way people relax after work, with more diverse games and activities for relaxation

4. Why might some people rely more on certain technology devices than others?

That’s an interesting question! I think it may be because of the nature of their jobs. People who work in fields requiring constant human contact such as marketing or telesales may heavily rely on devices for keeping in touch with their customers. In other cases, people’s increased reliance on technological devices can be attributed to their addition to screen time. People may overuse their smartphone for entertainment, which temporarily gives them the feeling of relaxation. However, people often go unnoticed that they have been addicted to devices.

5. How can the widespread use of important technology devices impact society?

That’s a tough one! As every coin has two sides, there are both negative and positive effects of technology on our society. On the one hand, technology has truly revolutionized our communication, accessibility and convenience in our society. These devices have made our world smaller, and people have never been better connected than before. However, there are still concerns, in terms of privacy invasion and misinformation, as thousands of personal information is stored digitally and many people take advantage of the widespread use of the Internet to mislead groups of people into false beliefs.

6. What should be considered when choosing a technology device for personal use?

There are several factors that should be taken into consideration when opting for a new technological device. First, I think people should consider the purpose of that device, whether it is for work and study or it is for entertainment. Sometimes people buy a device only by its covers, and it is not until they have used it that they realize they have bought the wrong ones. Second, the price should also be taken into account. To make one device a good deal, people should be careful about spending money on one technological item. It is sometimes unnecessary to spend money on some features, such as the design, as money should be wisely spent on what lies inside the device.
