1. Những điều cần lưu ý khi gặp dạng bài Two-Question Essays 

Với dạng bài Two-Question Essays trong đề, việc quan trọng nhất là trả lời đầy đủ các câu hỏi trong đề với bố cục như sau:

• Introduction: S01 – giới thiệu topic, cái xu hướng, hiện tượng trong đề; S02 – Thesis statement bạn linh hoạt viết theo các hướng sau:

• Conclusion: Với kết luận, bạn cần summarize lại các ideas bạn đã viết trong bài trong 02 câu

2. Writing Sample dạng Two-Question Essays

TWO-QUESTION ESSAYS – TOPIC 01

TOPIC: More and more people today are spending large amounts of money on their complexions in order to look younger. Why do people want to look younger? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

VOCABULARY: regain a youthful look = a strong emphasis on youthfulness = maintain a youthful appearance = rejuvenate appearance

TWO-QUESTION ESSAYS – TOPIC 01 – SAMPLE ESSAY BAND 8.0+

There has been a growing tendency for people to invest in their appearance to retain their youthful look. This essays analyses two main factors leading to such a trend and analyses its consequences.

The increasing demand for maintain youthful look can be derived from two main reasons. In the modern digital age, the constant exposure to carefully curated images of celebrities and their idealized beauty standards on social media has caused many to detest any sign of aging on their face and try to conform to beaty standards. If such an intention was deterred due to financial constraints and product limitations in the past, the growing accessibility of various beauty products as well as the increasing disposable incomes, which are the results of rapid economic growth in recent years, can enable middle-aged people to afford more beauty services and products. In fact, this trend has created a bandwagon among Korean and Chinese people, urging them to pay for innovative skincare ingredients or advanced cosmetic procedures in order to stay youthful and not to lose face.

Chasing after an anti-aging obsession might affect individuals’ health physically and mentally. Driven by the urge to regain youth while the costs of qualified beauty services are fairly high, the majority of people on a low budget opt for low-quality and illegal beauty products or beauty centers. As a result, they would be likely to face severe health risks, including skin irritation, hormonal imbalance, scars, or even deaths due to failed beauty surgeries. Additionally, while suffering injuries caused by harmful cosmetics and surgery failures, victims to such a trend might also undergo psychological pains such as anxiety, distress, trauma, and loss of self-esteem. For example, many have confessed on a beauty group on Facebook that they suffered from an endless cycle of trauma attempting to get their deformed surgery nose fixed.

In conclusion, the influence of social media and the beauty industry should be the main drive behind the growing demand for rejuvenating appearances. However, over-emphasis on youthfulness should lead to serious health and mental implications to individuals.

TWO-QUESTION ESSAYS – TOPIC 02

Fewer and fewer people today write by hand using a pen, pencil or brush. What are the reasons for this? Is the decline in writing by hand a positive or negative development?

With the emergence of modern devices, writing by hand has been declining in popularity in recent years. This essay will analyze factors behind such a tendency and discuss the benefits associated with it.

The decline in handwriting in this day and age is mainly due to two reasons. Firstly, due to the mobility of modern workplaces and educational environments, transferable documents that can be easily stored and shared among individuals are more preferable compared to than handwritten ones requiring physical duplication. Additionally, as a result of a fast-paced lifestyle, people now often prioritize speed and efficiency associated with typing, making it a more time-saving alternative to handwriting. Therefore, more and more people are turning to digital devices to compose and share documents or messages faster and more conveniently, thus reducing people’ chances and situations to write by hand.

Such a positive phenomenon can bring several desirable impacts to humankind. Regarding advantages related to the productivity of working, a shift towards the usage of typing applications can help people shorten their editing, correction as well as revision process, thereby enabling workers to allocate more time on information sharing and collaboration among individuals and teams. This is the main drive for more effective and time-efficient working solutions. With regard to its environmental benefits, the decline of handwriting can result in the lower production and consumption of paper, leading to the reduction of forest logging. In this way, trees and forests can be better protected in the long run, thus contributing to environmental sustainability.

 In conclusion, the increasing use of high-tech devices and the demand for faster and more convenient means of communication and note taking are the two main factors leading to a reduction in handwriting. I believe that this should be a largely positive tendency due to the benefits in terms of increased productivity and long-term environmental protection.
