Some say that news has no connection with most people’s lives and it is a waste of time for most of us to read newspapers and watch television news programs. Do you agree or disagree?

Quan điểm người viết: totally disagree với ý kiến rằng tin tức không liên quan đến cuộc sống của hầu hết mọi người và việc đọc báo và xem các chương trình tin tức trên truyền hình thật phí thời gian.

• Body par 01 - Lý do 01: có những vấn đề thời sự nhất định gắn bó mật thiết với cuộc sống hàng ngày của người dân (thuế, quy định của chính phủ hoặc thị trường lao động trong nước) => đọc tin tức để có những điều chỉnh phù hợp với những thay đổi đang diễn ra trong xã hội => chủ động hơn trong việc kiểm soát các hoạt động hàng ngày
• Body par 02 - Lý do 02: việc cập nhật các tin tức thời sự trong nước và quốc tế ngày càng trở nên cần thiết, đặc biệt là đối với thế hệ trẻ => theo dõi tin tức để trở thành công dân toàn cầu và hội nhập thành công với những tiến bộ trên toàn thế giới
• Body par 03 - Counter-argument: một số người cho rằng đọc tin tức là việc lãng phí thời gian và công sức => qua việc theo dõi tin tức qua báo chí và truyền hình, công dân trên toàn thế giới có thể nhận thức được mức độ nghiêm trọng và cấp bách của các vấn đề cấp bách toàn cầu => phối hợp để góp phần giải quyết chúng

It is assumed that since news bears no relation to individuals’ lives, reading newspapers and watching news broadcast on TV would be worthless. From a personal perspective, I totally disapprove of this viewpoint, and the following essay would further elaborate on my stance.

To begin with, there exists certain topical affairs that are closely correlated to people’s daily lives. It stands to reason that news pertaining to several aspects namely taxes, governmental regulations or the domestic labor market exerts direct impacts on the livelihood and lifestyle of people in a particular nation. Hence, being notified of such information can compel them to make timely and appropriate adjustments in accordance with ongoing changes in society, thereby having more active control over their day-to-day activities.

In addition, being updated with local and international news in today’s world has become increasingly essential, particularly for young generations. In the current era of hyper connectivity and global digitization, the pressure relating to responsibility heaped on the youth simultaneously becomes acute more than ever. On such ground, it is pivotal that they keep track of news relating to global events with a view to becoming global citizens and successfully integrating to worldwide advancements.

Many may argue that being informed of latest happenings is a waste of time and effort, an opinion I do not endorse. Indisputably, as society develops, it is being confronted with more intractable problems revolving around education, climate change, pandemic or gender equality. Therefore, by keeping track of news via newspapers and TV broadcast, citizens worldwide can be cognizant of the severity and urgency of such problems, thus making concerted efforts to contribute to the resolution of global pressing issues.

In conclusion, it is my firm conviction that individuals should read newspapers and watch TV news programs for their both individual and social development; therefore, I would totally disagree with the idea of undermining the role of news. To some extent, obtaining news is vital for individuals to become a well-informed and ethical citizen.
