The pie chart below shows the main reasons why students chose to study at a particular UK university in 1987 and 2007. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make a comparison where relevant.

2. Phân tích và chọn số liệu quan trọng

Năm 1987: 

• Suitable degree courses: over one third // far exceeding the quality of resources (21%)
• Other three motives:considerably lower // between merely 10% and 19%

Năm 2007:

• Suitable degree courses: remained the most // increasing mildly to 37%. 
• Close to parental: a drastic rise from 10% to 22% // took over quality of resources (17%) to become the second
• Quality of teaching & good sports and social activities: dramatic declines to less than 10%

3. Bố cục bài viết 

Introduction (paraphrase đề bài) & Overview (nêu xu hướng chính & những đặc điểm nổi bật – main features của bài):

• (overview for trend) suitable courses và close to parental có xu hướng tăng // các lý do còn lại đều giảm
• (overview for comparison) suitable courses luôn là lý do chiếm tỷ lệ cao nhất ở cả hai năm

The provided pie charts illustrate five major motives for students’ choice to learn at a specific university in the UK in two years, 1987 and 2007. In general, while an upward trend was recorded in the proportion of appropriate courses and proximity to parental homes, the reverse was true for the remaining reasons. Additionally, the suitability of degree courses was by far the most popular factor conducive to students’ choice of learning in both given years.

A closer look at the charts reveals that over one third of the surveyed students decided to study at the university owing to suitable degree courses in 1987, far exceeding the percentage of those whose reason was the quality of resources (21%). Meanwhile, the figures for the other three motives were considerably lower, hovering between merely 10% and 19%.

Over the next two decades, matching degree courses remained the most selected factor contributing to students’ decision to learn at the university, with its proportion increasing mildly to 37%. Noticeably, after undergoing a drastic rise from 10% to 22%, the figure for closeness to parental house took over quality of resources (17%) to become the second most chosen reason. By contrast, dramatic declines to only less than 10% were witnessed in the percentage of those choosing the university due to quality of teaching and good sports and social activities.
